Predictions: Oregon State Beavers vs San Diego State Aztecs

750 THE GAME STAFF,

Each week our staff at 750 The Game and fellow Pac-12 experts predict the score of every Oregon State Beavers game. This week Oregon State (3-0) hosts San Diego State (2-1) at Reser Stadium at 12:30 pm on FS1. The Vegas line in this game is Oregon State -24.5.

Here are the picks:

John Canzano:

The Beavers have covered the point spread in nine straight games. That’s the longest such streak in the country. And Oregon State is 13-2 vs. the spread in its last 15 games. Jonathan Smith isn’t in this to embarrass his opponents. He’s not prone to running up the score, but as gamblers like to say “the trend is your friend.” The Beavers will cover the point spread and improve to 3-0. (Via JohnCanzano.com)

Jon Wilner :

The Aztecs were run off their home field last week by UCLA and don’t have the playmakers to keep pace with Oregon State, which dominated another Mountain West team, San Jose State, in its opener. (OSU reminds the Hotline of SDSU’s best teams under former coach Rocky Long: solid defense, physical, run-heavy attacks.) This is only close if the Beavers are sloppy and hand the Aztecs points with turnovers and breakdowns on special teams. (Via Bay Area News Group)

Pick: Oregon State -24.5

T.J. Mathewson:

San Diego State can muck up the game early, run the ball a ton, and try and keep the Beavers off the field. However, I think the Oregon State team is better than the UCLA group that took care of business down at SnapDragon Stadium a week ago. Like the previous two weeks, the Beavers’ advantages in the trenches will lead the way to a 3-0 record.

Steven Vaughan:

I have watched San Diego State play numerous times this year, and this isn’t a very good Aztecs team. They are known for physicality and this team isn’t physical. I expect Oregon State to be able to run all over San Diego State which will then ultimately open up the passing game with DJ Uiagalelei. The Beavers defense has been impressive so far this season and Aztec quarterback Jalen Mayden threw three interceptions against UCLA last week. I expect the Beavers at home to force some turnovers and dominate the game.

Judah Newby:

Two years ago, yeah, this is a game. Not this year. Oregon State bullies you up front, and while Jonathan Smith doesn’t seek out blowout wins, he wants his players to cut it loose on the field. The Beavers will do exactly that, Aidan Chiles sees action for a third game in a row, and OSU gets to 3-0 ahead of a fantastic showdown at Washington State next week.
