Portland Trail Blazers Select Scoot Henderson With No. 3 Overall Pick In NBA Draft

By STEVEN VAUGHAN

The time has passed. And Scoot Henderson is the pick for the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Charlotte Hornets, after much debate and speculation, selected Brandon Miller with the no. 2 overall pick, leaving Scoot for Portland with the third pick.

Henderson played for the G League Ignite for the past two seasons.

This past season, the 19 year old averaged 17.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 6.6 apg.

Henderson struggled shooting the basketball from three point range last season only shooting 27.5% on only 2.7 attempts per game. But what Henderson lacks in shooting he makes up in athleticism and explosiveness.

Scoot was a five-star recruit from the class of 2022 out of Marietta, Ga.

Henderson finished his high school coursework more than 1.5 years early to join Ignite. He was the top point guard and No. 7 overall prospect in the ESPN Top 100 prior to reclassifying.

It remains to be seen what the Blazers do going forward. But Scoot Henderson looks like he could be a good player to build around for the Portland Trail Blazers.

More to come.
