Trail Blazers Waive Trendon Watford
By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME
The Portland Trail Blazers are getting ready for the free agency period.
First they extend the qualifying offer to Matisse Thybulle. Now the Trail Blazers have waived forward Trendon Watford.
In two seasons, Watford recorded career averages of 7.5 points (54.7% FG, 33.3% 3-PT, 73.7% FT), 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 18.6 minutes in 110 games (22 starts) for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2021-23, and was a fan favorite to a lot of fans during the two year tank that Blazers have gone through.
I believe the reasoning for this move is to save a little bit of money in the short term. Even though the Blazers can have as many players as they want on the roster right now. They came to the conclusion that they are hoping to upgrade Watford’s spot on the roster and decided to make the move now.
