Marc Stein is always sitting up front on the train of reports and rumors in the NBA.

Brian Windhorst To Dan Patrick: The Trail Blazers Already Started The Rebuild.

Writing on his subscription substack, Stein said Friday the Portland Trail Blazers remain a strong candidate to make a trade come draft day.

“The Trail Blazers, league sources say, continue to intimate that they are prepared to package Anfernee Simons with the No. 3 overall pick in a trade to acquire win-now talent to place alongside star guard Damian Lillard,” wrote Stein.

Who that win-now piece would be remains the big question in Portland.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst made comments on his podcast published Friday that are consistent with what Stein is hearing.

WINDHORST: TRAIL BLAZERS AGGRESSIVE IN TRADE SWINGS BUT NOT DISCUSSING TRADING DAME.

“Portland is trying some pretty aggressive moves, from what I’ve been able to glean,” Windhorst said. “I have no idea how accurate everything is, but they are swinging.”

The Charlotte Hornets have the No. 2 pick with Portland picking at No. 3 should they be unable to find a trade partner.
