Per Brandon Huffman of 247 Sports, Oregon State freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles is entering the transfer portal and is expected to follow Jonathan Smith to Michigan State.

“Today I’m hearing that Aidan Chiles, their true freshman quarterback, will be going into the portal,” Huffman said on 247 Sports live broadcast. “Jonathan Smith just got hired at Michigan State. I anticipate that Aidan Chiles will follow Jonathan Smith, Brian Lindgren the offensive coordinator, to East Lansing. I expect that to go down today.”

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday.

Smith was announced as Michigan State’s head coach on Sat., Nov. 24th, just hours after the Beavers 31-7 defeat at Oregon in the Civil War.

Chiles, a four-star recruit out of Downey, Calif., was considered to be the exciting future for OSU at the quarterback position prior to Smith’s decision to leave. Chiles played in nine games as a true freshman, throwing four touchdowns and no interceptions. His season totals were 24-for-35 for 309 yards and a passer rating of 180.4.
