The Timbers have reportedly acquired centerback Kamal Miller from Inter Miami, per Tom Bogert of The Athletic.
Bogert tweeted the news Saturday saying the Timbers are sending Miami $625,000 in general allocation money and an international roster spot. Miller is expected to help lead the Timbers back line.
New Timbers head coach Phil Neville came to Portland after parting ways with Inter Miami midway through last season and coached Miller after acquiring him from Montreal in April.
Miller has also featured on the Canada men’s national team with 41 caps and appeared in all three of Canada’s World Cup appearance in 2022. Neville also coached as an assistant with the Canada men’s squad over the summer.
Miller signed an extension with Miami prior to this trade to Portland that runs through 2026 with a club option for 2027, per the report.
