Anthony Gould Says Oregon State Is Not Dwelling On Loss To Washington State

By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME

It was a tough loss on Saturday in Pullman against Washington State. Getting down by 21 points in the fourth quarter didn’t help, but the Beavers showed some fight and didn’t quit in the game. Something that Jonathan Smith was proud of.

For receiver Anthony Gould, who had 4 catches for 61 yards, it was a learning experience. Gould was on the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano and Gould talked about how losing a game like they did well test them.

“You can’t really dwell on it. You move past it and we’re ready to go out there and execute and get back on track and just prove to ourselves what kind of team and offense we are. All great teams go through a little adversity and this is just a test. It will be a great test for us.”

The offense struggled in the first three quarters of the game. Only scoring 14 before erupting for 21 points in the fourth quarter. Gould says it was a lack of execution that led led to the Beavers struggling. Something they need to learn from.

“I think it just came down to lack of execution. If you can’t execute you can’t win games. There are plays with left out there offensively and I felt like it could have swung a little bit of the momentum for us. You got to live with it. You got to learn from the tape and be ready for next weekend. We got a good opponent this week in Utah so you can’t really dwell to much. You got to learn from it and not make the same mistakes. Go out have a good week of practice and learn from it this time.”

Moving forward the Beavers take on Utah. A team who is the back to back Pac 12 Conference champions. It doesn’t get any easier. Gould knows that’s how it is when you play in the Pac 12, but he’s happy this game is at home.

“Utah is a great team. I’m glad we’re home. I’m glad we play these types of games. That’s what you wish for playing division one football playing good teams week in and week out. Just having that competitiveness. I think that’s what makes us great. I’ll be glad to see Reser rocking on Friday.”

The Beavers host the undefeated #10 ranked Utah Utes at Reser Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m. on FS1.
