Oregon State And Portland Women’s Basketball Matchups Announced

Selection Sunday for the women’s tournament has come and gone, and Oregon State and Portland have found their fates.

Oregon State was given a No. 3 seed in Regional 1 in Albany. The Beavers will take on another team on the West Coast in Eastern Washington of the Big Sky. Eastern Washington has had their best season in the history of the school with a 29-5 record and a 16-2 record in the Big Sky where they defeated Northern Arizona in the Big Sky final. EWU is led by sophomore Aaliyah Alexander and Jamie Lorea. Alexander leads the team in scoring averaging 14.7 points per game. Lorea, a Senior, averages 13.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 5.6 apg. The Eagles played WCC regular season champion Gonzaga and took the Zags to the wire losing 82-80.

The Portland Pilots defeated Gonzaga in the WCC championship game to earn a No. 13 seed in Regional 2 in Albany. The Pilots take on No. 4 seed Kansas State. Kansas State was 25-7 on the season and finished third in the Big 12 this season. Kansas State is led by Ayoka Lee who averaged over 20 ppg this season. Kansas State has had an advantage behind the three point line this season. The Wildcats are outshooting their opponents from distance this season, connecting on 6.4 three-pointers per game while giving up 4.8 made threes to their opponents.

Oregon State vs Eastern Washington will take place at Gill Coliseum at 5 p.m. on Friday March 22nd. Portland vs Kansas State will take place at the home court of Kansas State, Bramlage Coliseum at 1:30 p.m. on Friday March 22nd.
