Listen: “Big Dave” Uiagalelei talks sons DJ and Matayo on the BFT

Such is the new world of college football, that the name Uiagalelei has become the most prominent football name in the state of Oregon over the past week.

Last Wednesday, the Oregon Ducks landed 5-star defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei out of St. John Bosco H.S. in Southern California.

Matayo is the younger brother of DJ Uiagalelei, a former 5-star recruit himself who committed to Clemson over the Oregon Ducks in a high-profile recruiting battle back in the class of 2020.  But now DJ is back in the state of Oregon following his decision to enter the transfer portal and ultimately sign with Jonathan Smith and the Oregon State Beavers.

Will next year’s rivalry game in Eugene feature DJ in the Orange and Black with his younger brother on the other side of the line of scrimmage for the Green and Yellow?

And what was it like raising two sons to become star prep athletes with promising collegiate careers?

“Big Dave” Uiagalelei joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth on Wednesday to talk about his story, his kids, their futures, what drew each to Oregon and Oregon State, and his parenting philosophy.
