Lillard’s Scorching Shooting Stretch Brings Second Straight Player of the Week Honor
Watching Damian Lillard last week was like seeing the NBA 2K video game come to life on the court.
He followed his first Western Conference Player of the Week of the 2019-20 season with a week equally as bonkers. Lillard averaged 45 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in the Blazers three wins last week.
The five-time All-Star messed around and collected his first triple-double against Houston (36 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists). Then, he notched 48 points, including 23 in the third quarter, nine boards and 10 assists in a win at the Lakers.
Finally, Lillard dropped his third 50-plus point performance in his last six games on Saturday. He also dished out 12 assists and grabbed two rebounds against Utah.
The Portland point guard also hit six three pointers in his last six games, which is an NBA record.
Lillard is now alone in 10th place for most 50-point games in NBA history with nine such games. His 51 points against Utah broke a tie with Bernard King.
This marks the ninth time Lillard has earned the West’s Player of the Week Award, but the first time he received it in back-to-back weeks.
