Evander Leads The Timbers To A Win Over FC Dallas, 1-0

By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME

The highest paid player in Portland Timbers history earned his money on Sunday night in front of a national audience.

Evander had the pass of the night to Franck Boli who scored a goal in the 33rd minute.

The goal by Boli gave the Timbers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was much of the same. Portland dominating the match and making sure that FC Dallas couldn’t get a point.

Portland had a few different opportunities to increase the lead, but some great goalkeeping by Maarten Paes of FC Dallas kept the Timbers to only one goal. The one goal was enough though, as the Timbers get the win 1-0 and are tied for eighth place in the Western Conference and only six points out of third place even though it’s been a rough start to the season for Portland

The win comes after a nice draw up in Seattle last week and it seems like the Timbers have turned a corner on the season.

The Next match for the Timbers is a match in San Jose against the Earthquake on Saturday, June 17th. Coverage starts on 75o The Game with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
