Damian Lillard Named All-NBA Second Team

Damian Lillard has been named a member of the 2020-21 All-NBA Second Team, his sixth All-NBA selection in Lillard’s ninth season. The Trail Blazer star averaged 28.8 points, 7.5 assists, and 4 rebounds in 67 games during the 2020-21 campaign.

As a team Lillard lead Portland to the fifth seed in the west and individually Lillard ranked third in scoring, seventh in assists, second in free throw percentage, third in three-pointers made, and third in free throws made (449).

Lillard was beaten out by guards Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic for a first-team spot that he captured in 2018. He became just the second player in NBA history to record at least 1,500 points and 400 assists in each of his first nine seasons, joining Oscar Robertson and the first Portland player to make an All-NBA Team in four straight seasons.

The All-NBA Team was selected by a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Players were awarded five points for each vote to the All-NBA First Team, three points for each vote to the Second Team and one point for each vote to the Third Team. Voters selected two guards, two forwards, and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who received votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.
