Chargers hiring Kellen Moore as new OC

The Los Angeles Chargers are hiring Kellen Moore as their new offensive coordinator.

The hiring comes less than 24 hours after the Dallas Cowboys released a statement that said Moore and the team reached a “mutual decision to part ways.”

In L.A., Moore replaces offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, who was fired after a 10-7 season that ended in a historic meltdown loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round.

Moore spent four seasons as coordinator for the Cowboys with his offense ranking in the top four in points per game, yards per game, and third-down conversion percentage.

He now gets to work with Justin Herbert, one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, but will face a challenge improving the Chargers run game, which ranked 30th in yards per game.
