Timbers Fall 2-1 to Sounders

It wasn’t the result that Portland wanted in the 112th meeting between the Sounders and Timbers.

Despite ample opportunity, the Timbers weren’t able to capitalize in a scoreless first half. In the second, Raúl Ruidíaz converted a penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. On the flip side, Diego Valeri missed a rare PK. He had his first attempt saved, but the Seattle goalkeeper was rule off his line. On his second attempt, Valeri illegally rebounded his miss off the left crossbar and kicked in a goal that was waived off.

After a second Sounders goal, Portland finally got into the scoring column with a beautiful Bill Tuiloma shot off a free kick in extra time.

But it wasn’t enough, and the Timbers are left without a result in a match that they played well in.
