Timbers Beat Columbus On Diego Valeri’s Ring Of Honor Night

After not having a win in their last five matches. Tensions were high in Portland for the Timbers.

There were some happy thoughts, as an all time Timber, Diego Valeri, got honored by getting his name in the Ring of Honor.

With the Columbus Crew coming in to town, the Timbers needed to start off fast, and that’s exactly what they did.

In the first half, Dairon Asprilla scored two goals in three minutes capped off by a nice pass by Franck Boli and Aspilla finished the play and got his second goal to give the Timbers a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Columbus got a goal back in stoppage time to give the Timbers a 2-1 lead going into the locker room.

In the second half, Columbus came out strong against a stagnate Timbers squad and got a second goal to tie the match at 2.

But is was Sebastian Blanco, who gets the game wining goal for the Timbers on Diego Valeri’s special night. Blanco is one of Valeri’s best friends and it was Blanco who gets the goal and helps give the Timbers three points on Saturday night.
