The Timbers trade midfielder for a 2019 international slot and sign Brian Fernandez
The Portland Timbers have traded midfielder David Guzman to the Columbus Crew for a 2019 international slot. He was acquired by the Timbers on December 22, 2016 from Costa Rican Primera División side Deportivo Saprissa. In five appearances this season, Guzmán logged 349 minutes and one assist. He had a total of four goals and eight assists in 44 regular season appearances over three seasons with the Timbers.

The Timbers will also sign 24-year-old Brian Fernandez. He will sign as a Designated Player from Liga MX outfit Necaxa ahead of the close of the Primary Transfer Window on May 7. Fernandez was featured at right wing for the club, where he has 18 goals and five assists in 32 appearances in 2018.
