Seahawks Starting To Feel Like Vintage Seahawks Again

By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME

The NFL draft has arrived and it’s a day where hope is given to every fanbase.

The Seahawks were a surprise playoff team last season and had the fifth pick in the draft because of the Russell Wilson trade.

With it, they selected Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon.

John Canzano, who grew up a Niners fan and still pulls for the team, reacted to the Seahawks pick of Witherspoon in real time on Thursday night.

“This pick is interesting,” Canzano said. “And I’ll speak to it as a Niners fan. The thing that I hated about the Seahawks in maybe the last 15 years were the years in which they were physical. They weren’t fun to play against. It was the Colin Kaepernick-era Niners against the Russell Wilson-era Seahawks, but it really was the Seahawks defense vs the Niners defense. And the Seahawks were no fun to play against. And they’re getting that feel again.”

There were not a lot of mock drafts that had Witherspoon going to Seattle. His addition, however, is needed for a defense that is young and talented, but finished 26th in opponent’s yards per game last season.
