Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager has had a long year. Tuesday might just make it all worth it.

In his first 3-hit game of 2019, Seager fell just a double shy of a cycle. He loves hitting at Globe Life Park against the Texas Rangers.

Coming into Tuesday’s game, Seager hit .294 in 71 games in Arlington. The left-handed hitting third baseman finished 3-for-5, 4 RBI, 2 runs scored, and no strikeouts.

Mike Leake was cruising in the first five innings, with only one run given up.

The M’s starter returned in the 6th and ran into trouble. Four Rangers would cross home plate in the inning and tie the game at 5-5.

Leake was taken off the hook when Seager slugged his triple to right-center field, which put the M’s up 7-5. Two batters later, Seager scored on a Tom Murphy single, making it 8-5 Seattle.

In potentially his final game as a Mariner, Leake’s final line looked like this: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 K, 0 BB. Leake has been mentioned in several trade rumors.

Seattle’s bullpen was dominant. Sam Tuivailala, Anthony Bass and Roenis Elías combined for 3.1 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 K, 0 BB.

Winning Pitcher, (1-0) Sam Tuivailala: 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 K, 0 BB

Losing Pitcher, (1-2) Brett Martin: 2.0 IP, 2 ER, 2 K, 1 BB

Save (14), Roenis Elías: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 K, 0 BB

Tuesday’s win marks Scott Servais’ 300th victory as the Mariners Manager. He sits 2nd All-Time in wins for a Seattle Manager; Lou Pinella is 1st on the list at 840 wins.

The M’s look to sweep their quick series with Texas on Wednesday. Pregame coverage starts at 4 p.m. on Freedom 970.
