Sabrina Ionescu Officially signs with NIKE

Despite Steph Curry’s best efforts to bring Sabrina Ionescu to Under Armour, the 2020 WNBA No. 1 pick is signing a multiyear deal with Nike.

Ionescu told NBC Sports Logan Murdock last week that Curry was “working hard” to get her to sign with Under Armour.

Sports Illustrated notes it’s unknown if Ionescu will get her own signature shoe. At the moment, no current WNBA player has their own shoe. However, past players like Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper and Rebecca Lobo have their own shoe.

Obviously, Ionescu would like to have a signature sneaker.

“I think before this all happened, I never thought about it because I didn’t think it was even a possibility because women don’t usually have signature shoes,” Ionescu told Murdock. “And then I think listening to a lot of these companies and the goals and visions that they had to have a signature shoe down the line, I was like, ‘Oh, actually that would be pretty cool.’”
