It felt like a big match as Jonathan Rodriguez made his debut for the Portland Timbers. There was a buzz in the air around providence Park.
The Timbers used that momentum and adrenaline early on. In the first half the Timbers had the xG lead over Philadelphia 2 – 0.7. But it was the Timers who were down 1-0 at halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half. Philadelphia came out quickly and had all of the momentum in the second half. Adding two more goals to take a 3-0 lead late in the second half. Jonathan Rodriguez made his presence felt by scoring a great goal in the second half to cut the lead to 3-1 and bringing some life back to Providence Park.
