REPORT: Tim DeRuyter to be next Oregon Ducks defensive coordinator

The Oregon Ducks are going with Tim DeRuyter as their next defensive coordinator, replacing Andy Avalos, per multiple reports.

Football Scoop had the news first, confirmed by The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman shortly thereafter.

DeRuyter replaces Avalos as defensive coordinator, as Avalos accepted the head coaching job at his alma mater, Boise State, following two seasons running the defense in Eugene.

DeRuyter comes to Oregon after most recently working under Justin Wilcox as defensive coordinator at Cal the past four seasons.  DeRuyter also was the head coach at Fresno State from 2012-16, prior to which he ran defenses at Texas A&M and Air Force, among other stops.
