Previewing The Oregon State Beavers At NFL Scouting Combine

Oregon State has four players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. The headliner for the Beavers is offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga who has been projected to go as high as No. 10 in certain mock drafts.

Fox Sports Draft Analyst Rob Rang wrote about the NFL Scouting Combine and says that Fuaga is a player he is excited to watch.

Rang says Fuaga is a player scouts will be watching on the bench press even though Rang says the bench press can be misleading. The fact that Fuaga has shorter arms makes it easier for him to put up a huge number which will be important in the case that Fuaga has to move to guard or center in his career.

Rang also says that Fuaga has the potential to stand out in the 40-yard dash.

“Notre Dame’s NFL legacy Joe Alt remains my top-rated offensive tackle in this draft but this is where Penn State’s Olu Fashanu, Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga and Georgia’s Amarius Mims, among others, could catch up with him.”

A good 40 time and a good bench press number could catapult Fuaga to being a top 10 pick.

Another player that Rang is high on is wide receiver Anthony Gould. Gould is only 5’8″, but Rang says that Gould has a great chance to wow scouts with a strong 40 time, because of his strong play in the East-West Shrine Game.

“A pair of former Pac-12 standouts, Chau Smith-Wade (Washington State) and Anthony Gould (Oregon State), have the speed to boost their stock after splashy plays in Mobile and at the East-West Shrine Bowl, respectively.”

We have seen short quick-twitch players get drafted and have great careers. Something that Gould is hoping for. Check out the entire NFL Scouting Combine preview by Rob Rang by clicking here.

The NFL Scouting Combine starts on Thursday with live drills for the defensive lineman and the linebackers on NFL Network.
