Oregon Ducks Remain No. 6 In College Football Playoff Rankings Heading Into Rivalry Game vs. Oregon State

750 THE GAME STAFF

The Oregon Ducks are again No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night, the same place they’ve been ranked since the first CFP rankings came out on Oct. 31st.

The Ducks (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) host rival No. 16 Oregon State (8-3, 5-3) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Autzen Stadium in the regular season finale. A victory for Oregon advances them to the Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas on Fri. Dec. 1st and a rematch against No. 4 Washington. Oregon’s lone defeat this year came in Seattle, 36-33 to the Huskies on Oct. 14th.

Georgia remains the No. 1 ranked team in the country, followed by Ohio State at No. 2 and Michigan at No. 3. The Wolverines host the Buckeyes in a massive “Big Game” rivalry showdown on Saturday (9:00 a.m. on 750 The Game and streaming here.).

The still unbeaten Washington Huskies, fresh off a 22-20 win at then-No. 11 Oregon State, usurp Florida State for the No. 4 and final ranking in the College Football Playoff. FSU lost starting quarterback Jordan Travis in last week’s non-conference win over North Alabama but remains undefeated themselves at 11-0, 8-0 in the ACC, and finish their regular season against rival Florida followed by an ACC Championship Game showdown with No. 10 Louisville (10-1, 7-1).

As for the Beavers, they dropped five spots in the CFP rankings following a narrow home loss to then-No. 5 Washington, 22-20, a game in which Oregon State closed as a 1.5-pt betting favorite. Oregon State is now No. 16 in the CFP going into the showdown with the Ducks.

Utah, who was No. 22 last week before losing at home to Arizona, dropped out of the CFP rankings this week. The Utes were previously the lone win for Oregon against a team ranked in the CFP. The Ducks now have no wins over currently ranked CFP teams. That said, Oregon hosts No. 16 Oregon State on Friday and a win would ensure a showdown with No. 4 Washington on a neutral site in the conference title game.
