Oregon Ducks Men Basketball Has The Talent To Be A NCAA Tournament Team

By 750 THE GAME STAFF

We are getting close to March and that means the NCAA basketball tournament is right around the corner.

According to numerous bracketologists, the Ducks are a NCAA tournament team or right on the bubble if the tournament started today. But there are still a lot of games left in the season to changed that.

CBS Bracketology expert Jerry Palm had Oregon as an 11 seed as of Friday in the Midwest Region, but the Ducks lost a pair of road games at Colorado and Utah last week.

247 Ducks reporter Matt Prehm joined John Canzano on the Bald Faced Truth to talk about the Ducks and was asked if he thinks this Oregon team is a tournament team.

“I do,” Prehm said.”I think projections show them there as well right now. This is an important stretch. They’ve got to get a split on the road (win at Utah on Sunday). That would really enhance their resume. They probably got to get a split in two weeks down at the LA schools. You almost have to say you got to get both considering where both those programs are at.”

Oregon couldn’t pull out a win at Utah but now faces a huge opportunity this week hosting Arizona State on Thursday and then Arizona on Saturday at Matthew Knight Arena.

“The Arizona game here in a week in Eugene is monumental,” Prehm said. “It’s a must win just because you’re not going to get another opportunity like that against that quality of an opponent very often this season. The impact of that win is 4-5x the value of a win at Utah or a game against USC or UCLA this season.”

The tournament feels so close and so far away at the same time, and the Oregon Ducks have at least given themselves a chance to play some very important games in March.
