NFL Commissioner Apologizes for “Not Listening to Players”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today condemned racism and the systematic oppression of black people in a video released to social media:

Goodell said, in part:

We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier, and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest.

Goodell did not mention Colin Kaepernick by name, but it appears he is referring, at least in part, to the QB’s kneeling during the National Anthem, which caused an uproar among a certain subset of the country.
