Ducks QB Tyler Shough Enters Transfer Portal, Leaving Oregon After Three Seasons

By Matthew Zimmer

Oregon’s starting quarterback last season, Tyler Shough, is leaving the school. The sophomore announced on Twitter he’s entering the transfer portal.

In 2020, Shough threw for 1,559 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. Shough was benched in the second quarter of the Fiesta Bowl.

The one-year starter also collected 144 passing yards and three touchdowns while playing sparingly behind Justin Herbert in 2019.

Shough, as mentioned in his announcement, will have three years of eligibility as a grad transfer.

Oregon signed five-star quarterback Ty Thompson recently for their 2021 recruiting class. Maybe the writing was on the wall for Shough with Thompson’s arrival and being benched in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Ducks also have four other QBs on their 2021 roster; Freshmen Robby Ashford, Jay Butterfield, sophomore Bradley Yaffe and senior Anthony Brown, who took over for Shough in the Fiesta Bowl.
