An Exciting 0-0 Tie For The Portland Timbers Down In San Jose

By STEVEN VAUGHAN

The Portland Timbers are looking to get some momentum after an up and down season. On Saturday down in San Jose. The Timbers came away with a tie 0-0. A much need point, but the Timbers felt like they should have gotten more.

In the first half there were a couple of chances for both teams. The Timbers did a nice job of getting Franck Boli the ball early and often even though he couldn’t put one in the back of the net. The Earthquakes of San Jose had the best opportunity when a shot zipped by the Timbers defense and hit the top of the goal post to leave the score tied 0-0 after the first half.

In the second half, Evander had what looked to be a sure goal on a cross but the header was denied by Earthquakes goalkeeper, Daniel. It was a very impressive save that kept the match tied 0-0.

There was a lot of opportunities for both the Earthquakes and the Timbers as both clubs had shots that hit the post, but nothing could get by either goalie. As the Timbers come away with one point on the road with a 0-0 tie in San Jose.

The Timbers by not allowing a goal extend their streak of not allowing a goal to three matches.

Next up for the Timbers is a matchup on Wednesday June 21 at Providence Park. Pregame coverage will be on 750 The Game at 6:30 and kickoff will be at 7:30.
