A Not So Great Gift For The Fans After A Not So Great Season For The Trail Blazers

By 750 THE GAME STAFF

The Trail Blazers are more than likely going to have the fifth worst record in the NBA, and it’s the third consecutive season where the Trail Blazers are actively trying to lose at the end of the season.

With the final home game coming up on April 12 against the Rockets, fans were thinking maybe after another rough season of Trail Blazers basketball that they team would give them something good for fan appreciation night.

That’s not the case at all.

The Blazers announced that the first 10,000 fans will receive a special edition basketball lip balm courtesy of Ticketmaster. Not exactly what they were expecting.

John Canzano is left wanting more from the Blazers franchise. Not only on the court – but wanting more for their fans.

“You just would rather not have this ‘prize’ if you’re a Blazers fan,” Canzano said on 750 The Game. “You’re going to get some lip balm. I’m sure the 10,000 fans, if 10,000 show up, will be happy with their special edition basketball lip balm. By the way, it’s courtesy of Ticketmaster. But I’m left feeling a little flat with the Blazers. And they’ve become such an easy target and I don’t want to take a swing at them. They are like a piñata. They’re hanging there all fat and full of candy. I don’t have a blindfold on. Somebody has handed me an aluminum bat, and I’m going – this is not what it’s supposed to be.”

Canzano says he doesn’t want to continue banging on the program, but at this point it’s too easy.

“It’s just too easy when this team, this franchise, is busy losing games, busy embarrassing themselves with a fan appreciation gift that isn’t a gift at all. It doesn’t say thank you to the fan base. It slaps them in the face and leaves them without, I guess, chapped lips.”
