Zags No. 1, Oregon No. 20; Three Pac-12 Teams in MBB Preseason AP Poll

Nothing signals the start of the college basketball season like the first AP Top 25 Poll. We got that on Monday.

The first poll features Gonzaga at No. 1, marking the first time the Zags are the top team in the AP Preseason Poll.

Right behind the Bulldogs are Baylor (No. 2),  Villanova (No. 3) and Virginia (No. 4). Gonzaga received 28 first place votes, while Baylor collected 24, Villanova snagged 11 and Virginia got one.

All the way in the mid-teens, you’ll find the first Pac-12 team, the Arizona State Sun Devils, at No. 18.

Oregon follows at No. 20 with UCLA coming up last of the Pac-12 teams at No. 22. Stanford was the only other team from the conference to receive votes.

The Big Ten had the most teams (seven) in the Preseason Poll. The Big 12 was right behind with five while the ACC had four teams.

The men’s basketball season is scheduled to begin on Nov. 25.
