Yimmi Chara scores, Timbers concede late in 1-1 draw at LA Galaxy
The Portland Timbers resumed play after a three week international break with a road match at Los Angeles Galaxy.
Portland got a first half counter attack goal from Yimmi Chara in the 38th minute, assisted by Sebastian Blanco, to make it 1-0 Portland.

The Timbers took that lead into halftime, outshooting Galaxy in the period 8-3 in total shots, with a 2-2 split in shots on target.
Portland battled valiantly to protect the goal advantage in the second half, but the home side would find a breakthrough to equalize late in the match. Sub extraordinaire Dejan Jovelich headed home a quality service from Julian Arajo to make it 1-1 in the 88th minute. Galaxy pushed for the winner, but after four minutes of added time, the score held, with the Timbers taking a road point to end a three-match losing streak.
The Timbers return to Providence Park next Saturday night to host Colorado Rapids, 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on 750 The Game.
