Why The Oregon Ducks May Have The Best Quarterback Room In The Nation

By 750 THE GAME STAFF

Oregon has had a long line of successful quarterbacks. Their latest quarterback, Bo Nix, may have been the most successful of all of them. With the graduation of Nix, Oregon will be starting a new era of Ducks football with transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

Oregon not only added Gabriel but they added highly touted transfer Dante Moore and return Austin Novosad who looked great in the Oregon spring game.

John Canzano on the Bald Faced Truth says with the new additions and the improvement of Novosad that Oregon may not only have the best quarterback room in the Big 10, but the best quarterback room in the nation.

“They have three quarterbacks that anybody would love to have,” Canzano said on 750 The Game. “I think between Dillon Gabriel, Dante Moore, and Austin Novosad, Oregon’s got the best room maybe in all of college football.”

Bo Nix left Oregon with a ton oF records and became the No. 12 overall draft pick of the Denver Broncos. Canzano thinks Gabriel will be good, but he’s no Bo Nix.

“You’re not going to have Bo Nix,” Canzano said. “You’re not going to have a star like Bo Nix. People are saying Dillon Gabriel is going to be it. I think Dillon Gabriel is going to have tremendous success because I think Oregon’s going to have a whole bunch around him.”

Oregon has had a top five recruiting class and a top five portal class. Canzano thinks because of that success that Gabriel is going to have a ton of success on the field, even though he may not be as talented as Bo Nix.

“The offensive line’s great,” he said. “They’ve got skill position players. He’s (Gabriel) going to get great coaching. They’re going to be favored in all of these games. Even the game against Ohio State they’re going to be favored. So he’s on the better team. He’s got better resources.”

Canzano added even with the success Gabriel may not be a first round draft pick in the NFL, and the other quarterbacks may not be drafted as high as Bo Nix.

“I don’t think they (Oregon) have a top ten draft pick,” Canzano said. “I don’t know if Dillon Gabriel is a first round pick given his size.”
