Why Oregon Ducks QB Bo Nix Is Playing As Good As Anyone In The Nation
By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME
Oregon impressed the entire nation with a dominant 35-6 win in Salt Lake City on Saturday over Utah. Now the Ducks are looking for bigger things going forward.
But the leader of the team isn’t surprising. It’s senior quarterback Bo Nix. Nix leads the nation in completion percentage completing passes at an astronomical 78.3%. The NCAA record is Mac Jones completing 77.4% back in 2020.
John Canzano said on the Bald Faced Truth he was very impressed with the game Nix played on Saturday when Nix was 24 for 31 and threw for 248 yards against Utah.
“Bo Nix was incredibly efficient,” Canzano said on 750 The Game. “He was as good as I have ever seen him. He just doesn’t make mistakes. That’s the thing that Bo Nix gives you. He just doesn’t make a mistake. Every other quarterback in the conference — including Michael Penix Jr. — makes mistakes. Bo Nix does not make mistakes.”
Nix has only thrown one interception all season long. And with the efficiency that he plays with, Canzano thinks the Ducks will be in Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship game.
“I think that as long as Oregon can keep Bo Nix healthy, I don’t see them losing,” said Canzano. “I don’t see Cal getting them. I don’t see USC getting them. I certainly think that if the Civil War game was played Saturday you’d have to pick Oregon. If it was play Friday or Thursday you’d have to pick Oregon at this point of the season.”
After the big win in Utah, Bo Nix has flown up the betting odds board for Heisman Trophy winner. According to betonline.ag, Nix is the fourth favorite to win the Heisman with +500 odds. Right behind Michael Penix Jr (+300), JJ McCarthy (+350), and Jayden Daniels (+400). If the Ducks continue to win as Canzano thinks so. Nix could be in New York and the Ducks could be in the CFP.
