U.S. Senator Ron Wyden Takes A Stand for Blazers Center Enes Kanter
U.S. Senator from Oregon Ron Wyden has issued a letter standing up for Portland Trail Blazer center Enes Kanter. In the letter Wyden calls for the United States Secretary of State to go on record saying the U.S will not” cooperate with these red notices or extradition requests”. The letter also outlines controversial Turkey President Erdogan and how he ordered his security detail to assault peaceful protesters in D.C. just two years ago.
Kanter is currently accused of terrorism by President Erdogan, his passport is revoked and he won’t leave the country due to fears of his personal safety. Kanter missed the Blazers game in Toronto due to the red notice issue that Canadian Interpol would follow.
