Twitter Exchange With Damian Lillard Reveals His Amazement During Trade Speculation

By 750 THE GAME STAFF

“I’m amazed.”

Damian Lillard posted those words on Twitter early Thursday evening amidst the never-ending dialogue surrounding the outgoing Trail Blazers legend.

Lillard officially asked out of Portland on July 1st. Along with his agent Aaron Goodwin, Lillard, who will be owed an average of $60 Million during his age 35 and 36 seasons and does not have a no-trade clause, is angling to be traded to just one team — the Miami Heat.

Blazers general manager Joe Cronin is tasked with shipping out the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and getting proper value in return. Reports and mock trades to date show Miami’s potential trade offer to be lacking.

Why is Lillard amazed?

That was our question. So we asked him. And Lillard answered.

“At how ppl could know so much and so little at the same time,” he replied.

Perhaps the seven-time All-NBA guard is feeling the weight of the endless opinions regarding the manner in which he is forcing his way directly from Portland to South Beach.

Maybe he read NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski’s piece earlier in the day painting Goodwin in a less-than-favorable light.

Or maybe Lillard himself is distressed with Goodwin’s tactics.

Dame answered our question. His answer was equal parts revealing and ambiguous.

One thing is for sure: the reports and rumors won’t be slowing down anytime soon. That is part of the territory when an all-time great who remains under an all-time contract aims to get his way, at all costs.
