Trail Blazers Rally, Top Spurs 107-106

The Portland Trail Blazers got the best of both worlds tonight.

They made the decision to rest star Damian Lillard tonight and give he and his sore hamstring a break.  They also left San Antonio with a come from behind win, topping the Spurs 107-106.

With Derrick Jones Jr. in the starting lineup in place of Lillard, the offense was as guard-heavy as ever; CJ McCollum led the way for Portland with 29 points, while Norman Powell chipped in 22 – including the go-ahead layup with 23 seconds to go.

But the Trail Blazers still needed a defensive stop – and they got it – forcing misses by Demar DeRozan (who led San Antonio with 26), Rudy Gay, and Jacob Poeltl in the final possession.

The team has to feel good about getting a road win with Lillard taking the night off. Up next for the Trail Blazers, they head to Charlotte to face the Hornets on Sunday.
