The Trail Blazers improved to 3-5 on the young season Monday night with a 118-100 win at the New Orleans Pelicans, spurred by a dominant fourth quarter in which they outscored the home side 39-18.

It was already the third regular season matchup between the two teams within the first eight games this season. Portland has won the last two in convincing fashion after the Pelicans took the initial contest 105-103. The final regular season meeting is Jan. 8th in New Orleans.

Matisse Thybulle and Shaedon Sharpe continued to be out with injury for Portland, while New Orleans was without regular starters Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, Herb Jones, and Dejounte Murray with injuries of their own.

Anfernee Simons scored a team-high 24 points for the Blazers and Deandre Ayton had a team-high 13 rebounds. Dalano Banton keyed the fourth quarter comeback with 20 points in the final period alone.

The Blazers are next in action Thursday visiting Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are 3-4 after a loss Monday at the LA Clippers and will play again Wednesday in Houston before hosting Portland on the second night of a back-to-back.
