The Portland Timbers came into Wednesday night’s match with the LA Galaxy coming off of a disappointing 4-4 Draw against Real Salt Lake the previous Sunday. Portland allowed two goals in the final four minutes of play, dropping a valuable opportunity to secure 3 points at home.
The Galaxy got the scoring started in the 15th minute when Efraín Álvarez scored his first MLS goal to give LA an early 1-0 lead.
Jeff Attinella was in goal for the Timbers on Wednesday, and there was no sign of rust early.
