The Portland Timbers made a coaching change and it has impacted the season positively. The Timbers defeated Colorado 3-2 on Saturday night from Providence Park and have now won four straight matches and are 6th in the Western Conference.
Portland got out to a quick 2-0 lead early in the first half thanks to goals by Antony and Santiago Moreno. As Portland has done lately. they get up and then give one back. As Colorado got a goal to cut the lead to 2-1 in the first half and the Rapids would get the equalizer in the first half in the 44th minute to tie the match at two.
It was Felipe Mora who would get the game winning goal in the second half which got the crowd hyped in the 71st minute. Portland buckled down defensively at the end of the match to get the win and improve their record to 11-11-9 which is the first time Portland has been .500 or better since March 10th.
The Timbers are playing their best soccer at the end of the season going into the playoff push. Next up for the Timbers is a match on Saturday September 30 against the LA Galaxy in Los Angeles.
