Well, the doom and gloom outlook for the Timbers in the beginning of the season as been turned on it’s head. The Timbers have now won three straight games, to put their point total to 10 on the season. The team is playing with much more confidence and head coach Gio Savarese has finally found the right formation for this team with the 4-4-2. The defense of the Timbers was in sync all night long as they forced 9 off sides for Real Salt Lake and goal keeper Steve Clark had an amazing save on a PK that sparked the Timbers offense.

Diego Valeri and Sebastian Blanco, the two stars on the team were the two goal scorers tonight. With his goal tonight, Diego Valeri is the 9th MLS player ever with 70 or more goals and 70 or more assists. He is the first member of the club who debuted in the league after 2001.

The Timbers are right back in the playoff picture when just three weeks ago they were in last place in the MLS. Up next, they head to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps next Friday night. Only three more road matches left for the Timbers until they have their home opener in newly renovated Providence Park.
