Timbers Forward Dairon Asprilla Named to MLS Team of the Week After Amazing Goal

Portland Timbers forward Dairon Asprilla was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 33, the league announced today. Asprilla scored his 10th goal of the season in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes at Providence Park.

Asprilla’s goal came in the 55th minute when he recovered a loose ball in the box, turning his back to the goal just outside of the box, juggling it up to himself and biking it into the net. The goal can be viewed by clicking here

In seven seasons with the Timbers, Asprilla has a total of 17 goals, over half of those being from the 2021 campaign. Making his third MLS Team of the Week appearance this season (Week 18, 28), Asprilla’s goal was his fifth goal in Portland’s last eight matches. The Colombian is the club’s eighth player to score 10 or more goals in a single MLS season.

Up next, the Timbers will travel to Sandy, Utah to take on Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Rio Tinto Stadium. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and will feature a national broadcast on ESPN2 with radio broadcast on 750 The Game.
