Timbers Fall 1-0 to Whitecaps in Season Opener

In a scoreless first half, Vancouver led time of possession slightly, but the Timbers starting finding their form late in the half – posing several threats – including a Yimmi Chara goal called off by a Felipe Mora offsides.

In the second half, the Whitecaps scored the only goal of the game, a rocket Lucas Cavillini header off a Vancouver corner. Goalkeeper Steve Clark had to be replaced by Jeff Antinella in the 78th minute after taking a collision with a Whitecaps player several minutes earlier.

Up next for the Timbers, they take on the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, April 24.
