Timbers Draw with Colorado 2-2
In a single word, Saturday night was chippy.
Early in the game both the Portland Timbers and Colorado Rapids were chirping, bodying up and getting under each other’s skin.
The Timbers got on the board first with Rapids’ Tommy Smith putting an own goal in his net in the 27th minute.
Jonathan Lewis responded quickly for the Rapids in the 28th minute and tied the game at 1-1.
Steve Clark was spectacular in net for the Timbers.

And all that was just in the first 45 minutes. In the 55th minute, Timbers’ Julio Cascante was shown a red card, and Portland played the final 35 (+6 stoppage time) minutes with 10 men.
Diego Valeri buried a Penalty Kick past Tim Howard in the 63rd, but the Rapids responded 13 minutes later to even it at 2-2.
Through full time, the Timbers earned the draw and the point along with it.
