Timbers Defeat Galaxy 3-0

The Portland Timbers and Los Angeles Galaxy were scoreless in the first half but not without drama: In the 43rd minute, Galaxy Defender Derrick Williams picked up his first red card in his MLS career after a poor challenge on Andy Polo.

Portland quickly took advantage in the second half as Felipe Mora fired home his first goal of the season, a header in the top right corner.

Mora wasn’t finished, scoring another header just feet away from the goal line to make it 2-0 in the 59th minute.

Who else but Diego Valeri to finish the game off. Valeri stepped up to the penalty spot after Daniel Steres conceded a penalty and finished with power from the spot.

The Timbers will head cross-country to face the Philadelphia Union on Sunday, May 30th before going on international break.
