Wed., July 26th: 7:00 p.m. Pregame, 8:00 p.m. Kickoff

The Portland Timbers host Liga MX power Tigres UNAM from Providence Park as group play continues in the inaugural League’s Cup.

The World Cup-style tournament format pits 47 clubs, all 29 from Major League Soccer and all 18 Liga MX teams, in a single tournament. The top three finishers earn spots in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Portland is in Group One of the West Region, along with the San Jose Earthquakes and Tigres.

The Timbers defeated San Jose 2-0 in their League’s Cup opener on Sat. July 22nd, with Evander and Felipe Mora providing the goals.

The top-two finishers in each of the fifteen groups advance to the Round of 32 knockout stage. A win or a tie puts Portland through to the next round. A loss will mean they have to watch the group finale next Sunday when San Jose hosts Tigres.
