Portland Timbers At FC Cincinnati

The Portland Timbers (8 pts, 2 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw) visit FC Cincinnati (17 pts, 5 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws) on Saturday on 750 The Game.

The Timbers sit ninth in the Western Conference through eight games following their incredible comeback win over rival Seattle Sounders, 4-1. Dairon Asprilla scored on a bicycle kick in the 71st minute that equalized the match, before additional goals from Nathan Fogaca, Jaroslaw Niezgoda and Juan David Mosquera to seal all three points.

Cincinnati, meanwhile, suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday, a 5-1 drubbing at St Louis City SC.

This is Portland’s second visit to Cincinnati, the first coming in Cincy’s first-ever home game in their MLS debut season in 2019. Cincinnati won the contest, 3-0.

The two sides also met in the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Fla., in July 2020, in the round-of-16 knockout stage. The teams drew 1-1 with Portland advancing 4-2 on penalty kicks. The Timbers went on to win the MLS is Back Tournament championship.
