The Timbers played valiantly, but fell short tonight against the Montreal Impact, 2-1. Impact striker Orji Okwonkwo scored both of the goals for the Impact, the second one being a candidate for the MLS goal of the year with a beautiful volley in the upper right corner of the net.

Portland was without the majority of their starters tonight as head coach Gio Savarese decided to give his main players a rest. The young players for the Timbers, the majority of them being from the T2 team, played hard and had plenty of chances to shock the Impact tonight. But their youth and lack of playing time together showed and they weren’t quite good enough to pullout a result.

Portland is still at 17 points on the season, but they play 9 of their next 11 MLS matches at home starting on Sunday with a matchup against FC Dallas. You can listen to that right here on 102.9 and 750 The Game.
