With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning, Mitch Hanniger hit a sharp ground ball to third base. Ranger third baseman Logan Forsythe couldn’t handle it cleanly, and his throw to second base wasn’t in time, allowing the game winning run to cross home plate for Seattle.
Edwin Encarnacion was the MVP of the night for Seattle, going 2-4 with a 3-run homerun and four RBIs. Justus Sheffield made his pitching debut tonight. He had a solid outing going three innings allowing two hits and two earned runs.
The Mariners have now won two games in a row, and they improve their record to 18-11 on the season. They continue their four game series against Texas tomorrow night.
