The Philadelphia Eagles jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and it seemed like the Nick Foles magic was alive and well. But the #1 seed New Orleans Saints responded, scoring 20 unanswered points and shutting down that Eagles offense for the rest of the game. The Eagles did have a shot late to take the lead, but with 2 minutes to go in Saints territory, Nick Foles threw a pass that went threw Alshon Jeffrey’s hands and right into a Saints defenders hands for an interception. With the win, the combination of Drew Brees and Head Coach Sean Payton remain undefeated in playoff games in the Superdome.

Drew Brees who struggled in the first quarter, throwing a interception on his first pass, bounced back in a big way throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas was a problem for the Eagles defense all day today as he racked up 171 yards and a touchdown on 12 catches. The Saints backfield of Kamara and Ingram didn’t have a spectacular game, but they were efficient rushing for a combined 124 yards on 25 carries.

Nick Foles had the magic early and it looked like the Eagles might pull of the upset of the weekend. But he never got into any rhythm after that first quarter, finishing with 201 yards passing, with a touchdown and two interceptions. What really hurt the Eagles was the lack of run game as they were only able to rush for 92 yards as a team.

With the win, the Saints will host the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday in a rematch of a week 9 shootout that saw the Saints win 45-35. Expect more offensive fireworks next week as those are the top two offenses in the NFC. You can listen to that game right here on 102.9/750 The Game.
