Pitre joined Oregon State’s staff in 2018 when Jonathan Smith became head coach. Prior to his time with the Beavs, he coached at Montana State (RB coach, 2014-17) and Colorado (Grad Assistant for RB/OL, 2012-13).
Oregon State got some solid recruits while Pitre ran things, including 2021’s Damir Collins and studs Jermar Jefferson and Artavis Pierce.
The Oregonian’s Nick Daschel asked coach Smith if the coaching staff was set, the answer was a little veiled.
I just asked Jonathan Smith less than an hour ago if the coaching staff was set. I had a sense he knew something.
“No movement to announce. But I will say just like anytime you do something well, people are going to pursue those people and that those conversations take place.” https://t.co/Vv6e9nfxlL

As tough as the news might be, it means the Beavers are doing something right.
Some fans will see Michael Pitre leaving OSU football for the Chicago Bears as a big blow. In a way, it’s healthy. Fans should want others to want their coaches. It means they’re doing something right.
