Pro Football Hall Of Famer Dave Wilcox Has Passed Away At Age 80

Sad news on Wednesday as it was announced Pro Football Hall of Famer and University of Oregon legend, Dave Wilcox, has passed away at the age of 80.

Wilcox is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and an Oregon legend. His brother, John, also played at Oregon. His sons, Josh and Justin, both played at Oregon and Josh played in the NFL for two seasons while Justin is currently the head football coach at Cal.

Dave Wilcox began his college career at Boise Junior College (now Boise State University), where he was named to the NJCAA All-America Team and was credited with blocking eight kicks in one season. He then played at the University of Oregon. At Oregon, Wilcox was a guard on offense and an end on defense playing on both sides of the ball.

Wilcox was drafted 46th overall in the 1964 AFL draft by the Houston Oilers.  He was then drafted 29th overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1964 NFL draft.

Wilcox played eleven seasons with the 49ers, twice being named First-Team All-Pro, and made seven pro bowls.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
